SGI/SGP PROJECT: CALIBRATION WORKS

Kentech was awarded a project to provide instrument and calibration services by Parsons Fluor Daniel on the Tengiz Field in Kazakhstan.

In response to this contract award, Kentech established an on-site Kazakh certified instrument calibration and testing laboratory in Tengiz. This was the first instrument and calibration laboratory in Tengiz where calibration and Gost certification could be completed on site.

Early indications suggested that we would calibrate and certify in excess of 30,000 instruments. These varied from temperature gauges to nucleonic level transmitters with pressure ranges exceeding 15,000 PSI. In addition, all test equipment, personnel and procedures needed to conform to Kazakh standards and certification.

Due to the amount of instruments mounted on skids within the project, it quickly became necessary to create “Mobile Calibration Crews” to carry out the calibration of instruments and equipment at the field locations. These eight fully equipped mobile crews completed approximately 400-500 calibrations per week.

Although the project is now complete Kentech still has calibration facilities in place in Kazakhstan to support other projects.
