ABKATUN ALPHA PRODUCTION RIG

Kentech was awarded the mechanical and electrical scope of works with regard to the installation of a gas turbine generator set on the Abkatun Alpha Production Rig, Offshore Gulf of Mexico.

During the planning stages the project was based in Kentech’s Tampico Office before mobilizing to the platform.

Kentech's scope of work centred around the mechanical and electrical hookup works associated with the installation of a new Rolls Royce Turbo Generator which included fuel gas / lube oil / compressed air piping systems, TG exhaust systems, MV switchgear, fire and gas detection and instrument systems.  In excess of 80% of the works were mechanical services.

Over 19,000 manhours were utilized offshore over a 4.5 month period, with 2 teams employed operating on a 14 day on, 14 day off rotation, with an 8 hour sea transfer required at the start and end of each period offshore.

Kentech were awarded this contract as a result of the successful works that we had already completed for Rolls Royce across Mexico including Atasta, Reynosa, Castarrical and Abkatun A&D offshore platforms.
