QATARGAS II LNG TRAIN

Kentech was awarded a technical services agreement with CTJV for instrumentation and controls systems commissioning support on the Qatargas II LNG Trains located in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.

Qatargas II involved the construction of LNG Trains 4 & 5 at the Ras Laffan site.  Each train is designed to produce 7.8 million tonnes per annum of LNG, which in total makes it the largest LNG production facility in the world.

Kentech were commissioned by Chiyoda Technip JV (CTJV) who were the EPC contractor for all trains.  Our scope involved supporting the Chiyoda team within CTJV for the Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and commissioning.

At the beginning of our assignment, the Kentech team was mobilised in Singapore for the FAT on the Emerson Delta V DCS which was being manufactured there.  After a five month period, the team from Singapore were relocated to the Qatar site to complete a 12 month period of supervision of the installation and commissioning of the control systems.

Kentech's selection for this important project was partly due to the strong working relationship established with Chiyoda on the Sakhalin II Project in Sakhalin Island, Russia.
