NORBE IV (RIG 2), TDS 2000

Norbe IV is a TDS 2000 semi-submersible drilling rig constructed by Single Buoy Moorings Inc. (SBM) for Odebrecht at the Gulf Piping Company's (GPC) fabrication yard in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi.  Norbe IV, also known as Rig 2, was one of three rigs constructed by SBM in Abu Dhabi between 2009 and 2011.

Following on from Kentech's successful participation on Rig 1, we were awarded a contract covering the electrical and instrumentation installation and testing works.

Norbe IV was a challenging project involving the rapid mobilization of 500 personnel to achieve the fast track schedule.

Kentech's scope of work included:-

  • Electrical and instrumentation cable pulling
  • Glanding and termination
  • Cable tray installation
  • Equipment installation
  • Complete testing
  • Project management

Over 200,000 metres of cable were successfully installed and tested, meeting the aggressive schedule.

Sea trials and delivery to Odebrecht took place in the summer of 2010.
