KARARA IRON ORE PROJECT: GERALDTON PORT SHIPLOADER

Kentech were awarded the electrical and instrumentation contract by Karara Mining Limited on the installation of the shiploader at Geraldton Port, which form’s part of their Iron Ore Project.

Karara Mining Ltd was established in 2007 through the 50/50 joint venture between Gindalbie Metals and Anshan Iron and Steel Group. Karara, located 200km east of Geraldton, is the first major magnetite operation in Mid-West Australia. The operation includes construction and operation of a large open pit mine, a processing plant to produce magnetite concentrate and all associated infrastructure.

The new 760 tonne shiploader to be installed at Geraldton Port will handle a capacity of 5,000tph and is targeted to be operational later this year.

Kentech’s scope of work includes the provision of skilled and experienced electrical and instrumentation technicians and supervisors together with plant equipment and material to complete the work package which includes drives, motors, lighting, limit switches and conveyors.
