Kentech Kuwait Perform Final Cable Cutover on Clean Fuels Project

The Kentech team in Kuwait are delighted to announce they have successfully completed the final stage cable cutover as part of the shutdown/changeover works for the LCR-2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 8 relocations on the Clean Fuels Project for KNPC.  The project involved the changeover of thirteen thousand (13,000) I/Os in a live plant environment without a single process upset to the 240,000 bpd refinery.   The project, which commenced in May 2016, involved detailed planning efforts on an integrated basis between KNPC operations and maintenance team leaders, PMC management and the FDHJV management for MAB refinery construction. Careful site execution ensured that the facility continued with planned production without incident.  The successful execution of this project, LTI free, is a great achievement in itself, but when considering the fact that the works were also carried out under live brownfield PTW conditions, often in the height of summer where temperatures can reach close to 50°C, is nothing more than exceptional and has firmly cemented Kentech as the number one choice for safe and reliable E&I works in the region. Joe Pretorius, Fluor (JV) /KNPC CF Project, E&ICSS Construction Manager for Brownfields commented: “A world class achievement, in which thirteen thousand (13 000) I/O were changed over without a single process upset to the existing running refinery”. Sarah Kent, Kentech CEO, commented “Completing a project incident free is something to be very proud of and completing this in a brownfield / live environment sets the bar even higher as the incremental set of risks that the team face are considerable. This achievement clearly demonstrates the use of the teams strong communication to promote high levels of engagement – something that is at the heart of Kentech’s culture”.
