Kentech Wins New Contracts in Abu Dhabi

Kentech International Limited Abu Dhabi has just signed two new contracts with Saipem, a subsidiary of Italian energy company Eni and a world leader in the oil and gas contracting services sector, employing over 40,000 people worldwide. Both contracts have been awarded for Electrical & Instrumentation works on Package 2 and Package 3 of the Shah Gas Development, located in the Liwa Western region of Abu Dhabi.

The SGD Project (60% Adnoc, 40% Oxy) is operated by Al Hosn Gas and represents a new era in gas development in Abu Dhabi. The sheer size of the facility and equipment, in addition to the high technology that is used to process the gas and the complexity in constructing such a large facility will set a new benchmark in the industry. The facilities will be designed to process approximately 1,000 MMSCFD of feed gas.

Saipem are the main contractor for Package 2 and Package 3 of the project with a combined value approaching USD 4 billion. Package 2 consists of the process plant that includes inlet separating, four acid gas removal units(AGR), two natural gas liquid (NGL) recovery trains and two condensate hydrotreater trains. Package 3 consists of four sulphur recovery units with tail gas treatment units.

This is the first contract that Kentech has signed with Saipem in the UAE and we are very excited at the prospect of showcasing our capabilities on this extremely complex project. The contracts are scheduled to run throughout 2013.

Shane Donnachie, VP Business Development and UAE Branch Manager for Kentech, commented: “Saipem is one the key players in the oil and gas services sector, with a strong reputation for safety and quality, and so this is a very significant award for Kentech. Saipem have forged their reputation on remote and technologically challenging projects, as Kentech has also done over the years, and we are delighted to have been chosen to support them on this flagship project.”
