SAKHALIN-1 EARLY PRODUCTION FACILITY

In 2004, the Expro Group awarded Kentech the contract for the complete multi-discipline installation of the Early Production Facility as part of the Exxon Sakhalin-1 Field in Russia.  The 50,000 BOPD early stage production facility was required to be executed on a fast track basis to comply with Exxon’s commitment to the Russian authorities for early oil production.

Kentech’s scope of work included the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation assembly and installation of over 55 skids.

The construction of the complex Early Production Facility had to be completed in a very tight schedule which was further complicated by the remoteness of the location and the need to work through the Russian winter conditions with temperatures dropping below -35C.

Kentech’s scope comprised of a fully integrated mechanical, electrical and instrumentation installation (including rigging and lifting plan, field engineering hook-up):

• Mechanical: Installation of skids, steel supports, hook-up pipework, enclosures, access stairs & ladders.  Pipe flushing and pressure testing.
• Electrical: Installation of grounding, cable rack and tray, AG cables, electrical equipment (substations, switch rooms, etc.), electrical field equipment (local panels, power outlets, lighting fixtures, etc.), heat tracing, cable terminations
• Instrument: Installation of cable rack and tray, AG cables, Instrument specification checks and calibrations, control room equipment, instrument field equipment (local panels, instruments, junction boxes, etc.), air supply tubing, impulse line tubing, cable terminations.  Loop checking
• Testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning support.
• Local permitting and compliance documentation.

The total number of manhours completed on the project was over 160,000 over a five month period.  The project was completed with over 95% local staff and the project was delivered on schedule thus enabling Exxon to fullfill its commitment to the Russia authorities.
